About
Two Mountain sits on land the family's been working since Phil Schmidt planted orchards in 1951. Fourth generation now, 200 acres of estate vines, Washington's first RULES-certified sustainable vineyard—they're serious about the dirt they inherited. The conversion from Schmidt Orchards to Copeland Vineyard happened in 2000, and every bottle comes from their own fruit. The Chardonnay shows what Yakima can do when you're not trying to make Napa: clean Washington acidity, toasted brioche without the butter bomb. Their Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc get consistent praise—one reviewer called the whites 'AMAZING' which is the kind of caps-lock reaction that usually means something clicked. The tasting room runs casual, walk-ins work fine, and you might get poured by Matt, one of the owners, who'll actually explain what they're doing in the vineyard.
